How is investment data curated for fund members?

The investment sector and associated companies of team members under funds (VC, PE, Angels) are curated from the Companies database.

For example -

  • A is working for fund XYZ and is involved in its investment. XYZ invests in Company Hector, which is in the fintech sector. Hence, A is associated with Hector and the fintech sector.

  • If A is a board member of Hector, then also she will be associated with Hector and the fintech sector.

Note that Board membership information is curated for selected geographies only.

What is Stages of Entry?

Stages of Entry indicate the funding stages where an investor typically participates in companies. Examples may include Seed, Series A, Series B, Growth Stage, Late Stage, or Private Equity rounds.

What are Portfolio Companies?

Portfolio Companies are companies in which an investor has invested. These help you understand the investor’s sector focus, investment patterns, and market activity.

Who is a Lead Investor?

A Lead Investor is the primary investor leading a funding round. Lead investors often anchor the investment round and may help structure the transaction.

What is an Investment Thesis?

An Investment Thesis is an investor’s strategic view or investment perspective around a specific market, sector, technology, or business trend. It helps explain the reasoning behind an investor’s investment focus.

What are Grant Providers?

Grant Providers are organizations or institutions offering non-dilutive funding support to startups, research initiatives, or innovation programs. Unlike equity investors, grant providers typically do not receive ownership in the company.

What is a Corporate Investor?

Corporate Investors are companies that invest strategically in startups or external businesses to support innovation, partnerships, expansion opportunities, or ecosystem development.
