What is Company Stage?

Company stage is a classification that helps in easily identifying the current stage of a company's lifecycle.

Example : Unfunded, Early stage, Late stage, or Exited

  • A company stage is assigned to a company based on the following parameters:

a. If the company is funded or not

b. If funded, at what funding stage it is at (Seed, Series A, Series B, etc)

c. If the company has exited or suspended its operation

  • Unfunded Companies:

Unfunded companies on Tracxn are divided in two categories

Unfunded - The companies that have not received any funding from investors

Bootstrapped - These are the startups that have started operating without the help of any external funding, instead, the founders of the company use their own personal resources and the revenue generated by the company for expansion.

  • Funded Companies:

These are the companies which have received funding and the investors of the company have not exited. The company stage is defined on the basis of the previous funding round raised.

For example: If the previous funding round were a Series B round, the company stage would be Series B.

  • If funding round details are not known, company stage is derived from Total Funding

  • If a company is funded but no information about its funding rounds or funding amount is available, then the company stage is 'Funding Raised'

  • For cases such as an acquisition after an IPO:

    a. Company stage is decided in this priority order : Acqui-Hired > Acquired > Public

  • Company Exits:

You can also see lists of companies by stage directly by clicking on the Companies Database in the sub-tabs on the Home Screen and then clicking on the β€œCompany Stage” option available on the screen to view the different Company Current Stage
