Add New Stage Group vs. Add New Stage

A stage group is a higher level category compared to stages, which includes multiple stages within it.

To illustrate, consider a stage group named "Deal Closure” that consists of two stages, namely "Term Sheet” and "Due Diligence".

Adding a stage group

Here's how you can add a stage group:

  • Click on 'Add New Stage Group' button to add a stage group

  • Fill in the mandatory fields (Stage group name & position of the stage group)

Hit 'Save' to create a new stage group

Tip: You can click on the 'Show a single list for this stage group in pipeline view' check box to club all the stages in that stage group into one single list.

Adding a stage

Here's how you can add a stage under a stage group:

  • Navigate to CRM settings tab (Link)

  • Click on 'Add New Stage' button

  • Fill in the mandatory fields

    • Stage Name

    • Choose the Stage Group Name (refer to above section to know how to add a stage group)

    • Position of the stage within the stage group

    • Select stage type (more details below)

Hit 'Save' to add the stage

How to select stage type?

You can mark a stage as Active only if you're pursuing it actively.

For example, the stage with deals that are under active evaluation can be marked 'Active - Deal Pipeline'. Similarly, you may want to mark stage with your passed deals as 'Inactive - Passed Deals'

Note: In the All Deals section, by default, your pipeline view only shows those stages with the type 'Active - Deal Pipeline'. You can use the 'View' drop-down to access other stage types and click on the check box as shown below.

Editing/ Deleting a stage

You can easily edit or delete a stage/ stage group from the ‘Actions’ section

To Edit:

Click on the 'Edit' icon to open the ‘Edit stage’ / ‘Edit Stage Group’ menu.

Make necessary changes and hit 'Save' to edit the stage/ stage group.

To Delete:

Click on the ‘Bin’ icon to delete a stage/ stage group from your CRM

Note:

  • Stages can only be deleted if there are no companies added to it. If your stage contains some companies, please move the existing companies to another stage or remove them from the CRM before deleting the stage.

  • A Stage Group can be deleted only if there are no stages added to it. If there are existing stages, please delete the stages.
