What are Benchmarks?

Benchmarks on Tracxn help you compare and understand key metrics across funding rounds and acquisitions. The section provides market-level data and benchmarks that can help you evaluate valuations, transaction multiples, and funding timelines.

You can explore three benchmark views:

Revenue Multiples

Revenue Multiples helps you understand how funding rounds are valued relative to the company's revenue at the time of the round.

You can view:

  • Revenue Multiple

  • Pre-Money and Post-Money Valuation

  • Round Trailing 12-Month Revenue

  • Round Amount

  • Percentile distribution, including median, 25th, 75th, and 90th percentiles

The view also provides percentile distributions for the selected metric, including the 5th, 25th, 50th, 75th, and 90th percentiles, along with the average.

This helps you understand the typical range and distribution of funding and valuation metrics across companies. The table provides the underlying funding-round data, including the company, round date, round name, revenue multiple, valuation, revenue, round amount, and sector.

Acquisition Multiples

The Acquisition Multiples view helps you understand valuation and financial multiples associated with company acquisitions.

You can view:

  • Acquisition Multiple

  • EV/EBITDA

  • Acquisition Price

  • Stake Acquired

  • Valuation

  • Trailing Revenue

  • Acquired Date

  • Acquired By

The view also provides the median acquisition multiple across the available acquisition data. This can help you compare acquisition transactions and understand how acquisition valuations relate to financial metrics.

Time between Rounds

The Time between Rounds view helps you understand how long companies typically take to progress between different funding milestones.

You can analyse the time between:

  • Founded to Seed

  • Founded to Series A

  • Seed to Series A

  • Series A to Series B

  • Series B to Series C

  • Series C to Series D

For each milestone, you can view the average or median time taken, depending on the option selected from the View dropdown. The view also shows the number of companies considered for each year, helping you understand the underlying data used for the benchmark.
