1. What happens if the company is not available in the Tracxn database?
If a company is not present in the Tracxn database, the API will not return the company and no API credits will be deducted. You can submit a curation request on the Tracxn platform to have the company reviewed and added to the database.
2. Does Tracxn support webhooks or server-side push?
Currently, Tracxn does not support server-side push or webhooks.
However, this feature is part of our product roadmap, and updates will be shared once it becomes available.
3. How can I check if an entity was updated or when was it updated?
The Companies API includes a response key, lastUpdatedDate, which indicates the most recent date on which the company profile was refreshed in the Tracxn database. This field can be used to identify when the company information was last updated.
4. Can I pass multiple company IDs in the Companies Enrichment API or News API? Is there a limit?
Yes, you can pass multiple company IDs in the filter when using the Companies Enrichment API or the News API. However, there is a limit of up to 500 company IDs per request. If you need to fetch data for more than 500 companies, you will need to split them into multiple requests.
5. Can People data be accessed in the Standard API plan? How is People data usage counted?
Yes, in the Standard API plan (above the 50K company tier), access to People data can be provided depending on the specific requirements.
People data is available through company records as part of the API workflow. Direct or standalone access to the People database using broad filters is not supported.
Since People data is retrieved via companies, usage is typically calculated based on the number of unique companies accessed through this workflow.
The coverage of People data mainly includes key individuals such as founders, CXOs, senior management, board members, and angel investors. Information on all employees within a company is not provided.
6. If competitors are fetched in the Standard API plan, will they be counted as separate company consumption? The requirement is only basic company details such as name, domain, and description?
To retrieve the list of competitors for a company, a separate API endpoint is available. Using this endpoint it does not consume any unique company credits and provides only basic information such as the names of the competitor companies.
However, if detailed information for those competitor companies is required, it will involve fetching company data using Companies API , and unique company consumption will be counted accordingly.
7. Why is Taxonomy not exposed via the API?
Taxonomy is proprietary intellectual property of Tracxn and is not exposed via the API as maintaining real-time accuracy for such data through API updates is challenging.
8. Is data required to be deleted after the subscription period ends?
This is a mandatory compliance requirement as per the Master Services Agreement (MSA), ensuring adherence to global data governance regulations.
9. Is it possible to exchange platform export credits for API credits to automate exports into a CRM or internal tool?
No, exchanging platform export credits for API credits is not supported. API usage is consumption-based and is tied to the number of unique companies queried.
10. Can we query only for records updated since a specific date?
Yes. Date filters are available for event dates (such as funding round date, news dates etc).
11. How often is the database updated?
As Tracxn is a secondary research platform, data is collected from multiple public sources and published after strict internal verification. Most data is updated and published as soon as there is a change in public sources. However, for certain data points such as financials, cap tables, and employee count, reliance is placed on official sources like MCA and labour reports, which are typically updated on an annual basis.
12. What is the correct API filter to search for a specific brand or industry (e.g., Cryptocurrency)?
To filter based on brand or industry, the recommended parameter is Practice Area & Feed. While generating the payload, it is preferable to use feedName as the filter instead of feedId or practiceArea.
13. How can companies be identified that have raised a minimum amount in their latest funding round?
There is no direct filter for the latest funding round amount. The Total Funding filter, combined with Latest Funding Date, reflects overall funding rather than just the most recent round. The latestFundingDate filter can be used to define the starting point for tracking funding.
14. How can companies flagged as Soonicorn be filtered?
To fetch the companies in soonicorn status use the Latest Unicorn & Soonicorn Status filter and select SOONICORN.
